Homer Paul Ferris

Homer Paul Ferris, a devoted father, grandfather, and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 90 in Grimes, Iowa. Born on November 2, 1934, in Butler, New York, Homer’s life was defined by his unwavering dedication to family, service, and community. 


Homer proudly served his country for 24 years in the United States Air Force, where he earned the rank of Master Technician Staff Sergeant. His military career was a testament to his commitment and leadership, qualities that he carried into all aspects of his life. After retiring from the Air Force, Homer dedicated much of his time to farming, a passion that brought him peace and fulfillment. He also enjoyed mentoring and inspiring young minds through his work in Boy Scouts, leaving a lasting legacy of guidance and support. 


Family was at the heart of Homer’s life. He was an incredible father to his son, Paul, and an equally amazing grandfather to his grandsons, Alex and Zach. Homer spent his later years with his son Paul and daughter-in-law Robin Ferris, as well as his grandsons, creating memories that will last a lifetime. 


Homer found great joy in spending time outdoors with his beloved dogs, Bambi and Bear, who were constant companions throughout his life. His love for nature and animals was matched only by his love for his family and friends. 


Homer is survived by his son Paul G. Ferris (Robin) of Grimes, IA; his brother Robert Ferris (Joann) of Pensacola, FL; grandsons Alex and Zach Ferris; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul J. and Esther M. Ferris; and his brothers, Howard and Butch Ferris. 


Homer will be laid to rest in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Savannah NY.
