Des Moines-Homer McCurn passed October 27 at Luther Park Trinity Center Nursing home, one day short of his 90th birthday. He was born and raised in Batesville, ARK.
He and his devoted, recently deceased wife Dorothy became residents of Des Moines in 1957. Homer enjoyed the outdoors and having the family together.
He served in the Korean War, earning a United Nations Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal and a Korean Service Medal with 3 BSS and an honorary discharge in 1953.
In Des Moines he worked at Colonial Bakery and then United Parcel Service, where he retired after 25 years.
He is survived by his daughter Rev. Dr. Niambi Webster (Memphis, TN), grand-daughter Tamara Bragg (Iverson) (Des Moines), grandson Kobie Colemon (Brooklyn, New York) and a host of friends and relatives.
A grave side service will be held November 13 at 11:30a at the Merle Hay Funeral Home.
