Heidi Kupka

Heidi Kupka, kind-hearted, loving sister, daughter, aunt, and hard worker passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2022, at the age of 49.


Heidi was born on November 16, 1972, in Charles City, Iowa to Mark and Bonnie (Bonita) Kupka. She attended Charles City High School and graduated in 1992. Heidi went on to graduate from Iowa Central Community College with an Associates of Arts Degree.


Heidi spent her working life in a variety of positions including many years as a laundry aide and most recently working in guest services at Johnston Hy-Vee. She was most proud of the opportunities where she was helping others.


Heidi was a faithful member of Des Moines Mennonite Church. She developed many friendships at the church and always offered her gifts of service and care to others.

Heidi is preceded in death by her father, Mark Kupka.


Heidi is survived by her mom, Bonnie Kupka; sister, Tina Moore; brother, Kevin Kupka (Kristie Gray), 2 nephews, Zach Moore and Alex Moore.


Heidi was a very kind-hearted, loving sister, daughter, Aunt, and an especially conscientious worker. She was small in stature but mighty in spirit and had so much love to give. Heidi demonstrated an appreciation for even the smallest gesture of support others provided her.

Heidi will be missed by many and will be forever in our hearts.


A Celebration of Life Service is planned at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21st, 2022, at Des Moines Mennonite Church located at 4001-56th St, Des Moines, IA 50310. After the service, a light lunch will be available for attendees. A small graveside Memorial will occur in Charles City, Iowa at a later date.


In place of flowers, we ask that you consider donating funds to help cover Heidi’s funeral expenses. You may drop off donations at the church or mail donations to the church payable to her sister, Tina Moore.
