Evelyn Grace (Voshell) Oxford

April 23, 1930 – May 9, 2025

Evelyn Grace Oxford, lovingly known to all as “Gram,” passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2025. Born on April 23, 1930, in Northern Iowa, Evelyn was truly one of a kind. She was part of the greatest generation, living through the Great Depression, World War I, World War II, and a century of remarkable technological change.

As the only girl among five brothers, Evelyn was full of spunk, grit, faith, and an unshakable fighting spirit. She was the heart of our family, the best sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother anyone could ever ask for. We are forever grateful that God chose her for us.

She is survived by her son Larry (Pam) Morey; granddaughters Daryl Diane (Jim) Countryman, Wendy Morey, Rae Morey, Lesley (Travis) Anderson, and Ashley (Timmy) Smith; as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom adored her.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Basil Oxford, her daughter Mary Jane Hager, and her brothers Daryl and William Voshell—along with nearly everyone she knew and loved over her long, extraordinary life.

As per her wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Her body has been cremated, and her ashes will remain at home beside her dear Basil. A Celebration of Life is being planned, with details to be shared at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Evelyn’s legacy through simple acts of kindness—especially toward the elderly. Please take care of them.
