Elizabeth “Betty” Groen, 78, of Denver, Iowa passed away February 9th 2023 of natural causes. Born Elizabeth Ann Moser in Manchester Iowa to Leone and Martin Moser. She grew up on her family’s farm in Delaware county and graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School. After graduation, she went on to attend Allen College of Nursing.
After completing her education she went to work as a critical care nurse at Allen Memorial Hospital. She spent most of her career working in ICUs at either Allen or Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa. Ending her career with her longest stint at Allen Unity Point as a House Supervisor.
She raised two daughters, Shelly Marie and Ann Elizabeth, who were her whole heart. She loved spending time with them, watching and participating in their activities. After retirement she also loved to attend high school and college sporting events for her nieces, nephews and some close family friends, especially baseball, swimming, and basketball.
She is survived by her daughter Shelly Groen. Two brothers, Gerald (Barb) Moser of St. Charles, Missouri and David (Roberta) Moser of Lakewood, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Ann Elizabeth, a brother Richard Moser and her parents Leone and Martin Moser.
She requested no funeral and will be interned privately at Oakland Cemetery in Manchester, Iowa near her daughter and parents at a later date.
