Douglas Dean Shogren age 71 of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away Decemeber 7,2023 surrounded by family at the Iowa Veterans Home.
Graveside services will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Dallas County, Iowa on December 22nd at 12:30 p.m.
A celebration of life will take place on December 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
The Cremation Society of Iowa is caring for Doug and his family.
Doug was born on April 8, 1952 to Eugene and Betty Shogren of Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Des Moines and graduated from North High School. He then went on to serve in the Navy aboard the USS Camden. After he was honorably discharged, he met and married the mother of his two boys, Brian and Marty Shogren,
He then went on to find his calling as an over the road truck driver and enjoyed that for 35 years. Often times taking the boys with him whenever he had the chance.
Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, he especially looked forward to when Camden and Lucas would come to see him. Always giving them a hard time about how tall they were getting! He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and gardening.
After he retired from trucking, he made his home in a few different places, before he found his forever home in Marshalltown at the Iowa Veterans home, where he made lifelong friends. While there he enjoyed dancing, painting and gardening.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Marty Shogren (Cathy) of Ackley, Iowa and their children Camden and Lucas Shogren, Katie Jeffries and family and Alex Jeffries and family. Brian Shogren (Shauna) of Norwalk, Iowa and his children Landon and Lexi Shogren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Betty Shogren and his three brothers, Lonnie, Dale and Alan Shogren.
