Donald J. Hunt passed away Thursday May 30th,2024 surrounded by the two loves of his life, wife Denise, son Jesse and his niece Julie.
Born January 16th, 1942 in Leesville, LA to Sky and Thelma Hunt. He always considered Louisiana his home, even after he, his brother Ed and Mom moved to Oskaloosa, IA. His mom remarried to Gail Hunt and Don and Ed were blessed with little sister Patti. His father also remarried to Inez and 5 more siblings were born. Brothers Paul, Raymond, Robert and Gerald and another baby sister Kayla. Don loved his family and had an ear to lend anytime one of them needed to talk. He and Kayla had become quite the talkers and spoke on a daily basis, which Don looked forward to everyday. Don always considered himself lucky to have 2 Moms and 2 Dads and all his siblings.
Don proudly served his country in the Army. He spent 3 years in college, but ultimately decided on a career in sales. He loved being a traveling salesman, interested to hear people's stories. Often Jesse and Denise would travel with him especially if he was headed anywhere near Lansing, IA, where the family spent many summers.
Don married Denise Johnson on January 16th, 1974 and to that union his son and best friend Jesse Donald was born.
He and Denise spent most of their 50 years living in the country. He enjoyed the peace and serenity that country life afforded them.
Don loved spending time with family and friends. He never met a stranger, and always had an open door if you needed anything. He enjoyed watching football, playing cards, and most of all fishing with his son Jesse.
