Dennis Michael Terry was born on 12-5-1950 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Florina Terry. Denny was not expected to live. Denny passed away at 75 years old at University Park Nursing.
Denny’s father passed away when he was very young. His mother cared for him till she was 95 years old. He was also cared for and supported by his Uncle Leonard and Mamie Picucci.
Denny was an avid Hawkeye fan, loved Dean Martin music and his daily Pepsi. Denny lived 10 years under the care of Link Associates. During this time, he went to concerts, restaurants, Drake basketball, and the Iowa State Fair. He had two special trips. The first to an Iowa Hawkeye game at Kinnick Stadium. The second was a trip to Las Vegas where he saw a presentation of the Rat Pack.
After Denny had a stroke, he lived 4 years at University Park Nursing. Everyone knew Denny and his favorite time of the month was Sing Along to Rick.
Denny was cared for by his special nurse, Lisa, and many others. His antics kept them hopping. He drove his nurse’s crazy with daily requests to call his cousin, Darlene. His two favorite questions were “when are you coming and what are you bringing me.”
Denny’s favorite time of year was his December 5th birthday. He started talking about it three months in advance. His 75th birthday was an enormous success. He was made to feel like the center of the universe.
Besides the great care he received at University Park, we want to thank Suncrest Hospice.
Denny was preceded by his parents. Grandparents, aunts, and uncles. He is survived by many DeCarlo cousins. Denny was a special guy and we will miss him. We will have a summer memorial to honor him.
