Dennis "Denny" Lee Hutt

Dennis “Denny” Lee Hutt, age 71, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, at his home in Fontanelle, IA.  He was born October 5, 1952, to Doyle and Thelma (Dougherty) Hutt in Indianola, IA, the second of 2 children.

Denny spent his childhood in Indianola. He was active in many activities and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, developing an affinity for the outdoors. Growing up, he delivered papers and worked at Gambels Hardware Store, primarily in the Bike Shop.

He graduated from Indianola High School in 1970. His father, Doyle, worked as a carpenter, served in the military and passed away during a golf outing with Denny and friends during Denny’s Senior year of High School.  His mother, Thelma, worked at the local newspaper for nearly 40 years and remained his biggest supporter throughout her life.

After high school, Denny worked at Indianola Water Works. Later he joined in on the wheat harvest, worked in manufacturing and also as a carpenter.

Denny and JoAnn Jameson married in October 1981. They had 3 boys: Rob, Galen and Chris.

Denny had a warm and welcoming smile. He never met a stranger and was happy to help anyone he could. His family meant the world to him. Denny loved movies and music. His affinity for music was great including playing music and working sound for friends’ and other local bands. He enjoyed camping, fishing and watching races with the family. He supported his children in their activities, serving as a Boy Scout Leader. He could be found cheering them and later his grandchildren on through their trials and accomplishments. He especially loved and cared for his pets, including Vinny at the time of his passing.

Denny is survived by his stepfather, Don Waltz, his sister, Sharon Sill, brothers Jim Waltz and John Waltz, his sons, Rob (Alicia), Galen (Alisha) and Chris (Candace) and his 14 grandchildren: Lincoln, Hayden, Dylan, Zoey, Heather, Izabella, Natalya, Keegan, Kali, Kyra, Harley, Curtis, Tripp & Jace. “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23: 1-6)
