David Plumb

"Dave" David Lee Plumb, 80, of Des Moines, IA, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024.

Dave was born on October 10, 1943, to Donald Herbert Plumb and Mary Virginia Lee in Des Moines, IA, whom have preceded him in death.

Dave served in the US Army from 1961 to 1964, worked for many years at Iowa Parcel, had other various employers as a truck driver, and eventually retired after working as a security guard.

Dave enjoyed spending time with his family and listening to music, especially that of Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Elton John.  But most notably he was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports, but football and baseball were his favorites. The Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees and the Iowa Hawkeyes (and sometimes even the Iowa State Cyclones) were amongst his most favorite teams. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing pool and cribbage.

Dave is survived by his children, Laura (Randy) Lane of Des Moines, IA, and David (Jennifer) Plumb II of Altoona, IA; grandchildren Megan Lane, Allison Lane, Colton Plumb, and Jillian Lane. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding Dave in death were his brothers, Robert Plumb and Donald Plumb, and his granddaughter Kelsey Lane.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 20th from 6-8pm at Wakonda Christian Church, lower level in the Cord Room.  Memorial contributions should be directed to the family.
