DARYL E. WALKER
October 16, 1931 – July 26, 2025
Daryl E. Walker passed away at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, at the age of 93. He graduated from Pella High School in 1949, and married his high school sweetheart, Norma Toll, in 1951. He served in the army during the Korean war. They raised 3 children, Steve (Kim) Walker of Winterset; Tom (Trena) Walker of Prole, and Judy (James) Nelson of Mitchellville, and were blessed with 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Daryl owned and operated a drycleaning business (Walker’s Cleaners) in Winterset for 36 years, and was very active in the community. He was a member of the Winterset and Bondurant American Legion, VFW, Lions Club, Optimist Club, Chamber of Commerce, and helped organize the very first Covered Bridge Festival in Winterset. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, landscaping and boating at Sun Valley Lake, where they lived for a short time before moving to Bondurant.
Daryl is preceded in death by his mother, Leona Montgomery, wife, Norma, and grandchildren, Laura Nelson and Leah Walker Shelley.
Services will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date.
