Dan Wooldridge, resident of West Des Moines, IA, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the age of 67 after a thirteen-month battle with brain cancer.
Daniel Eugene Wooldridge was born May 4, 1958, in Perry, Iowa. He graduated from High School in Winterset, Iowa, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business and Management from Iowa State University in 1981, where he was a proud member of the SAE (Sigma Alpha Epsilon) fraternity.
Dan was raised a Christian in the Southern Baptist church. He and his wife, Susan, had an active church life, and Dan knew his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dan loved fishing, golfing, and collecting items such as knives, watches, and dress hats (which he also enjoyed wearing). He also liked traveling and taking cruises with his wife, Susan, along with their family and friends. Dan’s life and career took him across the country, with residences in nine states including Illinois, New Jersey, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, California, Florida, Texas, and Iowa.
Professionally, Dan built a distinguished career in the food ingredients industry, specializing in sales, procurement, and brokerage of food commodities for firms such as AGP, A.E. Staley (Tate & Lyle), and Conagra Foods. He capped off his career with more than 12 years as an expert in complex financial risk management and hedging strategies at Moving Parts, LLC before retiring in April 2024.
Dan is survived by his wife, Susan Baker Wooldridge, his mother, Verla Jean Wooldridge, his three daughters: Courtney LaPole (Dan “DC”), Danielle Kenney (David), and Nancy Anne Moreno (David), and grandchildren: Samantha, Abby, Annalise, Tori, Evelyn, William, Lilah, and Liona, as well as Dan’s surviving siblings: Michelle Brasel (Steve), and Scott Wooldridge (Melissa), and their children.
Dan is preceded in death by his father, Cliff Wooldridge, and daughter, Mavinee Black.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Revision Church, 2000 NW 100th St, Clive, IA 50325, starting with a reception at 10:00 am. Join us for coffee and apple fritters. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 am followed by a small lunch. Interment of ashes will take place at 2:00 pm that same day at the mausoleum at Merle Hay Funeral Home 4400 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA.
