Dallas Davenport

Dallas Duane Davenport was born on July 30th, 1962, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and passed away on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at his home in Des Moines.

Dallas was raised in Maxwell Iowa, in high school he played basketball and baseball, earning an award for Mid-Iowa All Conferences in baseball. Dallas graduated from Maxwell Community High School in 1981, then obtained a diploma in Auto Body Repair from Des Moines Area Community College in 1983. In 1986 Dallas became a tinner with the Local 45 Sheet Metal Workers Union, where he worked for Taylor-Ball Industries, Waldinger Corporation, and Corn States Metal. Projects Dallas and his family are most proud of include Wells Fargo Arena and the Principal Building downtown Des Moines. In 2019 Dallas started working at Beaverdale’s Ace Hardware, where he quickly became a beloved local man.

Dallas is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Elaine Lawyer, and three sisters. Dallas is survived by his loving son, Eric Davenport (Ashley Roberts), one sister, and many friends.

Listening to music, hanging out with his buddies, and watching baseball were all things Dallas enjoyed; but his favorite times were spent grilling out with Eric and Ashley at their house, where he can play with his favorite dog “Muttley”.

Please join us to honor Dallas with a celebration of life at Joe's Pub in Johnston, on Wednesday January 15th, 2025, from 4 to 8pm. Thank you Jon and Andy at Local 45 for organizing a Go Fund Me, all those who donate, and the staff at Joe’s Pub for helping us honor the life of Dallas in a way he deserves.
