Dear friends,

With great sadness, I regret to announce that my beloved husband, Charles (Charlie) Uren, has passed. He died peacefully, in a room full of love.

He had a good life, packed with an abundance of love and joy, along with an occasional setback to keep things interesting.

Charlie loved being a husband, a father, and a friend. We dearly loved him in return. He enjoyed motorcycles, traveling, and fishing. He loved several dogs throughout his life, each leaving their individual paw print in his heart.

Charlie was a naturally gifted mechanic and therefore, undoubtedly it came to no one's surprise that he pursued auto-mechanics in college. In addition to working for auto dealerships, his mechanical talents enabled a wide range of opportunities from working on a professional racing team's pit crew to teaching at a local community college. He loved every minute of it. Charlie especially enjoyed helping his family and friends figure out and fix their mechanical problems, too.

Charlie's survived by his birth children, Jessica Uren, Cody and Lexi (Griffin) Uren, and by his stepchildren, Loren and Tara (Pinter) Holcombe, and Rachel Ashina. He was cherished by his grandchildren, Lauren Holcombe, and Weston and Stetson Uren.

Charlie is also survived by his siblings, James (Lisa) Uren, Scott (Shannon Poletti), and Jane (John) Monahan. Together, they shared their childhood in Westbend, Iowa. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nancy (Drake) Uren.

If you are so inclined, your local animal rescue league would greatly appreciate a financial donation in his memory.

I am very blessed, as he was the love of my life.
