Carolyn Joan Manna, daughter of Lawrence P. and Catherine (Ver Hoef) Miller, was born December 15, 1935, at home in Alton, Iowa. She graduated from Paullina High School in Paullina, Iowa, in 1953, and in 1956 earned her Registered Nurse degree from Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1976, she completed her education as a Licensed Healthcare Administrator.
Carolyn devoted her life to healthcare and education, serving as a nurse, administrator, and teacher. Over the years, her work touched hospitals, nursing homes, DMACC classrooms, and hospice care. Of all her accomplishments, though, her most cherished role was being a mother and grandmother.
On September 29, 1956, Carolyn married Richard J. Manna at St. Boniface Church in Sioux City, Iowa. Together they were blessed with six children.
She is survived by her daughters Jacki, Shelli, and Patti, daughter-in-law Michelle, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her three sons, Rick, Doug, and David Manna, her parents, her brother Larry, and her sister Phyllis.
Carolyn’s life was centered on her deep faith in God and her personal relationship with Jesus, along with her steadfast love for family. She was a devoted prayer warrior whose legacy of faith and love will live on in those who knew her.
