Carol Torstenson of Des Moines went to her heavenly home on December 1, 2021, at the age of 81 following a brief illness.
Carol was born February 26, 1940 in West Des Moines, Iowa to parents Letha and Clarence Harker. She was preceded in death by Richard, her beloved husband of 55 years.
She is survived by sons, Ricky (Ann) of Des Moines, and Rodney of Chicago, IL, a brother, Larry (Pat) Harker, and sisters: Patricia (George) Christiansen, Judy Mackey, Barbara (Wayne) Riggs, and sister-in-law, Marjorie (Rick) Rodgers.
Carol loved God, her family and her church. She was a woman of strong faith which was evident in her dependence on God whenever her family faced difficulties and illness. Carol was an organizer and was often the one to plan the Harker family holiday gatherings, numerous church dinners and regular family outings. She also loved to clean and had a great sense of satisfaction in seeing a home or office sparkle after her special touch. Carol loved being a homemaker and found great joy in caring for her home and family.
Carol was an avid puzzler and always had a puzzle working. She felt a great sense of accomplishment when each scene was finally finished. She left behind a large puzzle collection for us to enjoy!
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Eastside Church of the Nazarene, 1451 E. 25th Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be at 10:30AM. The family invites you to join them for a luncheon following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
