Carl Valasek

Carl Valasek, 56, was born on October 19, 1969, in Osage, Iowa, and passed away at home on February 12, 2026.

Carl enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved participating in RAGBRAI. He treasured time with family, friends, and his many bike riding companions.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; his son, Austin Valasek, and Austin’s mother, Lisa Hannan, of Oelwein; his mother, Jackie Porter, of Osage; his stepfather, Reed Porter, of Red Oak; his aunt, Jean Canny, of Osage; his brother, Chad; his stepchildren, Nick Brown and Shandi Brown, both of Creston; and his granddaughters, Alivia and Maria. He is also remembered by his cherished friends, Kevin, Dee, John, and Nancy Dowd along with the rest of his biking buddies.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Valasek; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Norma Valasek; and his maternal grandparents, Al and Betty Suchy of Osage, IA.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Carl’s family.
