Caprice Ann Halverson

Caprice Ann Halverson, age 61, of Norwalk, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

Caprice was born on May 8, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of LaVern and Francoise (Renou) Halverson. Caprice gave birth to a son, David Halverson on November 22, 1982, who later gave her a granddaughter, Gabrielle Caprice Halverson on March 30, 2009, who became the center of Caprice’s world.

She graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1980, then went on to Iowa State and Des Moines Area Community College, earning a degree in nursing. Caprice worked as a Nurse in many different hospitals across Des Moines and eventually became a Home Health Care Nurse for UnityPoint where she worked until she retired.

One year when she was still nursing, she had lined her kitchen with brown paper bags. When asked what she was doing, she said she was putting together Thanksgiving meals for all her patients. Caprice always wanted to help others and loved buying gifts for others for any occasion or no reason at all.

Caprice loved gardening, crafting with her granddaughter and attending Bible studies.

Remaining to cherish Caprice’s memory are her mother, Francoise Halverson; granddaughter, Gabrielle Halverson; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Caprice in death are her son, David Halverson; father, LaVern Halverson; sister, Therese Halverson; and two brothers, Phillip and Erik Halverson.

Memorial donations in Caprice’s memory may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She was a long-time donor to St. Jude’s and was extremely passionate about helping children in need.

In honor of her final wishes, Caprice’s remains will be placed in a memorial spot chosen by her mother and there will be no funeral service.
