Beverly Lorraine Butler, 92, passed away peacefully, of natural causes, at the Iowa Veterans Home, in Marshalltown, Iowa on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023.

Bev was born in Ames, Iowa on April 12th, 1930, to Russell Arthur and Leona Pearl Warren.

She had one brother, Elmer, who was just 13 months older than her. The family moved around Ames, during her childhood. She remembers walking thru the fields, on the way to swim at Mom-and-Pop Carrs' pool, just north of 13th St. Bev graduated from Ames High, class of ‘49. She enjoyed many different activities while in school, and she was always proud of the fact that she could walk on her hands, while going up steps!

After graduation, she worked at Collegiate Manufacturing, in Ames. She worked in the art department, making pendants. She enjoyed roller skating, at the 'round house', where she met Ralph (Ken) Kenton Butler, of McCallsburg, Iowa. A year later, on September 1st, 1950, they were married.

Bev enjoyed belonging to a bowling league, in her younger years. She was proud to be on the reunion committee, for her 40th and 50th class reunions. Bev eventually retired from the McFarland clinic, where she had worked in the central supply area, sterilizing and wrapping medical instruments.

Bev enjoyed cheering for ISU, (no matter what sport) the Vikings and the Packers! She loved playing cards and belonged to a few card clubs. She also liked to play Chicken Foot (dominoes). Whenever possible, Bev went on many organized bus trips and saw many new places and met new people. She loved going to the casinos and in 2008, she hit a nice jackpot while playing a penny machine! She loved music, dancing and took joy in beautiful things, like the changing of the leaves in the fall or a monthly flower arrangement. Bev's favorite times were spent with her family! She especially loved when her grandkids would spend a day with her. When they were little, her mantra was: "You can have anything you want, as long as you don't whine."

During her many years of life, Bev lived in Ames, Iowa, Toronto Canada, Indianapolis, Indiana, Prior Lake, Minnesota and returned to Ames in 1980, where she remained until 2018, when she moved to State Center, Iowa to live with her daughter and son in law. In December 2021 she moved into the Veterans Home.

Left to celebrate her, are her son Rick (Ronda) Butler-Ames, Iowa, her daughter Stacy Bane- State Center, Iowa; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Tiffany) Butler- Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Kelly (Mikel) Hansen- Ames, Iowa, Kendra Bratzel- Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jaron (Nichole) Bane- Columbus, Ohio, Robert "Skip" Bane- Lacrosse, Wisconsin; her eleven great-grandchildren and MANY nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Bev now rejoins her parents, her husband, her brother, her son in law, her 'little angel' son, Kerry Kevin and her beloved cocker spaniel Jody.

She was well loved and is greatly missed!
