Beverly (Bev) A. Hinshaw of Marshalltown, passed away December 22, 2025 due to complications with Alzheimer’s at the age of 93.
Bev was born in Mason City, Iowa. A few years later, her family moved to Waterloo, where she and her sister Mary grew up. She graduated from West Waterloo High School and went on to attend Iowa State University. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. After graduating from ISU, she married George W. Hinshaw, an attorney in Marshalltown. Bev worked for Marshall County as a social worker until the birth of the first of her two children. She was an active member of the local PEO chapter, where she enjoyed writing humorous skits that were performed at chapter meetings. After her kids were raised, she returned to work as a social worker at the Marshall County Home until she retired.
Bev was a very sociable person who loved life and interacting with people. She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed experiencing the world through travel. Of all the places she visited, she loved the Rocky Mountains and Estes Park, Colorado the most. In lieu of funeral services, the family will hold a private celebration of life in Estes next summer.
Bev is preceded in death by her parents, George and Violet Allbee, sister Mary Nauman, and her husband George. She is survived by daughter Kay (Kole) Neznik, son Jim (Christina) Hinshaw, grandchildren Walker (Annie) Hinshaw and Erissa (Price Monroe) Hinshaw, nieces and nephews and one great grandchild.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Willows of Marshalltown and St. Croix Hospice who ensured Bev had the best possible care during her illness.
