Bernard “Sonny” Olson

Sonny was born in Fort Dodge Iowa to Harold and Faye (Howard) Olson on December 20, 1935. Sonny passed away on July 23rd, 2024.
Sonny lived in Fort Dodge for many years and was a proud Flat Rat. Eventually Sonny moved to California and married Karen Jack in 1955. They had 3 children Cindy, Judy and Joe.
In 1980 Sonny moved back to Fort Dodge where he met Judi Heggestad, they later married in 1983.
One of Sonny’s loves was laying carpet; he worked for Jim’s Floor Covering of Fort Dodge for many years. He retired from laying carpet. He also loved working in his shop making many things out of wood for his family and friends, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Sonny leaves behind his wife Judi Olson, her 2 daughters Lyn Heggestad-Knapp, Teresa (Corey) Ewing. Their sons Curtis (Kaylee) Knapp and Carter Ewing. His daughters Judy (Van) Shiota and Cindy. His grandchildren Shawna, Chelsea, Joshua, Joe Jr., Karen Rose, Jeremy and Jacob. And 4 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Faye Olson, son Joe, his siblings Shirley Wolters, Beverly Simmons, Darlene Phillips, Wayne Olson, and Glen Olson.
