Aurbry Eugene Yeakey, of Des Moines Iowa turned the lights off on August 19, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
Aurbry was born in Des Moines on December 23, 1934 to Beulah and Albert Yeakey. He married his wife Frances (Nancy) Armington on December 27, 1957. They had three daughters; Christine Yeakey, Stephany Yeakey-Hill, and Andrea Trammel.
Aurbry would say he was the jack of all trades and the master of none. He worked in construction in his younger years then went on the work for the State of Iowa at the Commission for the Blind. Contrary to his statement he was a master jokester. If he liked you, you knew it because he would always give you a hard time and often times assign you an obnoxious nickname based on some behavior or characteristic.
Aurbry adored his family. He also loved woodworking and tinkering with things in the garage, watching westerns on TV and telling the younger kids about his adventure tales with Jesse James and Daffy Duck.
Aurbry was proceeded in death by his brothers Albert (Udel) and James (Jay), and sister Mary (Loren) Baysinger. Aurbry will be greatly missed by those that survived him; wife Nancy, three daughters and sister Bonnie Dyer. Seven grandchildren Aubrey (Jeremy) Williams, Gene Eddie Hill, Cody (Katie) Trammel, Stephen Yeakey-Hill, Lindsay (Jeffrey) Trammel, KaLani (Alex) Hill, LeiNani Hill. Ten great-grandchildren and many other loved ones.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 11am-4pm at Curate, 322 E Court Ave. Des Moines, IA 50309.
