Andre Outlaw

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Andre Scott Outlaw on May 28, 2022. He was diagnosed with Renal Cancer on May 12, 2022 and was admitted into the hospital on the 16th to start getting all of his doctors together to work on treatment and pain management. He fought the battle for two weeks and went to sleep peacefully at EveryStep Kavanagh House, on May 28 at 3:01 am. He was an amazing husband and father. He will be truly missed.

Andre was born on February 24, 1968, and raised in Chicago. He had a special bond with his Aunt and Uncle who raised him until the age of 10, which Andre credits for shaping him to be the person he became. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Chicago and immediately began working numerous jobs to put himself through college to obtain two Associate degrees. He then started his career at Protiva Computer (later EDS), which brought him to Des Moines, Iowa.

In 2006, Andre met his future wife when he went to fix her computer and fell in love with her at first sight. He knew he would eventually end up with her. After many years of chasing after her, Andre and Rhonda were married in Winterset, Iowa on June 3, 2011. Rhonda and Juliana moved into the house he lived in located in St Charles, Iowa. After 3 years of struggling with infertility, their miracle baby Halle Rose came along in 2014, which gave him the motivation to fight for his life in the battle through 2 kidney transplants. Andre and Rhonda moved their family to West Des Moines, Iowa, in 2016. Being the tinkerer and handyman he was, Andre could figure out how to fix anything around the house by finding videos and tutorials online. Andre enjoyed planning the family vacations to Disney World in Orlando, Florida and always looked forward to spending that time with his family. Halle says that she knew her dad loved her because he and she would sit down together and watch the shows she wanted to watch. He was a trendsetter, always looking into the latest technology to install at home like the Nintendo Switch and smart home devices. He lived for his family until his last breath.

He is survived by his daughter, Halle, and stepdaughter, Juliana Bempah; wife, Rhonda; mother, Dorothy Outlaw; sister Chelsea Baxter; brother-in-law Ron (Janice) Haworth; brother-in-law Rick (Shirley) Haworth: brother-in-law Randy (Sachiko) Haworth: sister-in-law Rachelle (Adam) Hugley; sister-in-law Robyn (Prem) Samuel. He is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his sisters-in-law Romana and Rebecca Haworth, and many aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins.

We are so grateful to have the ability to gather all those dear to Andre. We invite you to a celebration of the life he lived on June 18, 2022, from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at Valley Junction Activity Center, 217 5th Street, West Des Moines Iowa, 50265; small service will take place at 2:00 pm. Bring your stories and memories to share with others.
