Marti Faye Kindrick, 62, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully October 20, 2021 with family at her side after a lengthy two month battle with multiple health issues. Marti was born June 20, 1959 to Marlyn and Faye (Gettman) Lee in Mason City, Iowa. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1977. She played the baritone which was quite comical as it was twice her size! Marti married Daryl Kindrick on August 31,1984 in Wichita, Kansas. Together they loved NHRA drag racing, traveling, visiting the "library" (casino) and spending time with their family and friends. They worked together for many years in auto body shops, ultimately owning their own body shop in Armstrong, Iowa. She also worked many years at Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and at Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, Iowa. They moved to Mason City, Iowa to help care for Marti's parents and she got back into the auto body business working in the parts room at Billions. Most recently she took on a job working from home for Express Aviation Services as a flight coordinator helping coordinate medical flights. It didn't matter what job she took on, she put 100% into it. She had a love for decorating her house, camper, or anything she had the chance to decorate. There wasn't much empty space left on the wall after she was done, between the pictures, knick knacks, thingamajigs, and doohickeys. She would add or change decorations with each season, holiday, life event, but her favorite was Christmas. She loved everything about Christmas. The entire house would change, inside and out. There would be a Christmas tree in every room, including the bathrooms. She loved holiday baking, and many years had "cookie weekend" with her daughters, granddaughters, and girlfriends. She loved buying Christmas presents, and watching everyone open their gifts trying to hide her excitement behind her coffee mug. Left to cherish her life, is her husband of 37 years, Daryl Kindrick of Des Moines, IA; her 5 children Kristin (Ryan) Hardt of Des Moines, IA; Kyle (Jessica) Badker of Ogden, IA; Kris (Dawn) Badker of Cherokee, IA; Deana (Bill) Wegner of Armstrong, IA; and Wes (Stacy) Kindrick of Spencer, IA; her 12 grandchildren, Knick, Grace, Kaleb, Austin, Kaleigh, Allyssa, Max, Paisley, Milo, Stella, Brock and Eleanor; her sister Mary Wallis, brothers Matt Lee and Mike Lee, along with many other family and close friends. Marti is preceded in death by her parents, Marlyn and Faye Lee, and her in-laws Amos and Wanda Kindrick. The family will be holding a celebration of life on Saturday, November 27th, 2021 at Cutty's in Grimes, IA from 1pm-4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Marti's name to Toys for Tots or Children's Cancer Connection.
