Dennis Duane Kramer

Dennis Duane Kramer, 86, of Aplington, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on June 17, 2026.

Dennis was born on October 20, 1939, in Aplington, Iowa, to Clifford and Gertrude (Hauts) Kramer. He attended school in Aplington and spent his life working hard to provide for his family. Dennis began his career driving over-the-road for several trucking companies before eventually owning and operating Hausman Trucking in Waterloo, Iowa.

Dennis was first united in marriage to Marlys Wertjies, and together they shared a family before later divorcing. He then married Carolyn Jean "Buffy" Fuller, who preceded him in death. Dennis later found love again and married Jenny Wren, with whom he shared his remaining years.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn; his son, Todd Bolin; his daughters, Cindy Lovell and Margie Rompot; his brothers, Rod Kramer and Milton "Mickey" Kramer; and his sons-in-law, Joe Kitchen and Steve Holts.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jenny Kramer; his children, Kevin (Christe) Bolin of Reinbeck, Mike Bolin of Reinbeck, Cynitha Kitchen of Tripoli, Wisconsin, David (Joyce) Kramer of Happy Jack, Arizona, Brenda (Rodney) Anderson of Parkersburg, Dennis Kramer Jr. of Waterloo, Sharyl (Scott) Ruport of Dysart, James (Jen) Sharkey of Cedar Falls, and Jill (Jered) Van Engen of Cedar Rapids; his son-in-law, Randy Rompot of Cedar Rapids; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Dennis found his greatest joy on the open road. Riding motorcycles was more than a hobby—it was a way of life. He loved traveling across the country, visiting old friends along the way, and by the end of his adventures had ridden through all 48 contiguous states. If you owned a motorcycle, you were his friend for life. He may have preferred you rode a Honda, but any motorcycle was welcome.

He also loved being outdoors, especially soaking up the sunshine. Many in Aplington remember seeing Dennis riding through town shirtless, making the most of every sunny day. His adventurous spirit, friendly nature, and love for family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him.

A private family burial will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington, Iowa.
