Carmen Coromoto Lezama de Arias was born in Caripe, Venezuela on March 8, 1956. She entered Heaven’s gates on August 6, 2020. A loving spouse, the greatest of mother’s, and the most loving and cherished grandmother. Carmen was a remarkable woman – tenacious, humble, full of life and wisdom, always ready to help and give whatever she could to others. Her impact in this world will be known in the many children she cared for throughout the years, with the love and education she provided to them. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who were blessed to have known her. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 13th at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church (15 Indianola Road, Des Moines, IA). Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30AM, with a Mass at 10:30AM. The family respectfully asks guests to wear masks and practice social distancing. Carmen is survived by her husband Berto Arias, her daughters Angela (Justin) Douds, Ariadna (Melvin) Rosario, Iriana (Jared) Chizek, her son Luis Arias and six grandchildren who knew her lovingly as Abuela. Cremation rights have been accorded per the wishes of Carmen and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Una esposa cariñosa, la más grande de las madres y la abuela más amorosa y querida.
